Quality Assurance Engineer

 

Location: Waltham, MA

Type: Contract

Duration: 6-12 months

 

Local candidates preferred, in person interview required.  Preference given to candidates out of financial services firms.

 

 

We are looking for an individual to join our expanding development team. As a member of the QA team, you will assist in (1) Testing new applications and enhancements (2) Tracking defects and enhancements identified during testing (3) Creating test plans on small enhancements (4) Assist the Sr. QA Engineer to implement QA methods and procedures.  You will work closely with Business Analysts and other Developers to ensure the quality of existing and new functionality on both our desktop and web based products.

 

 

Job Description

• Develops and implements test strategies and plans
• Develops and executes test cases with appropriate data and scenarios
• Defines and implements process for recording defects in tracking systems
• Works closely with Development team to prevent, prioritize, and fix defects, ensuring timely and high-quality releases
• Works collaboratively within project team to help define testing scope and identify implementation details or issues for each project

• Ensures quality of system delivery throughout the software development life cycle from inception to delivery
• Performs data analysis to get to root cause of problems; Utilizes SQL to find test data and validate results
• Reviews and provides appropriate feedback on functional requirements
• Identifies issues and provides effective feedback for management

• Provides appropriate status and risk information for management

 

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in QA Engineering role (Financial Services experience a plus) or Recent Graduate Student (or completing a Masters) with a Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics with a strong interest in Quality Assurance / Software Testing

• Experience with the software development life cycle
• Familiar with testing concepts (Use of testing tools and methodologies)
• Experience with testing desktop and web applications
• Experience creating test plans
• Experience writing queries in SQL
• Experience with versioning systems such as Visual Source Safe or PVCS
• Experience with Microsoft Operating Platforms
• Basic knowledge of C, C++, ASP, HTML, XML, VB, Javascript, RDBMS MS/SQL, IIS
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Be able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time
