Technology Group (SETG) is responsible for developing and maintaining
award-winning, educational software titles including READ 180®, ReadAbout®,
Scholastic Reading Inventory®, Scholastic RED® and WiggleWorks®.
Position Description: Scholastic Education Technology Group (SETG) has an immediate opening for a QA Release Lead.
Position Title: QA Release Lead
Reports to: QA Manager
Focus on quality assurance needs related to integration testing, automated regression script and tools creation, including coordinating with the Lead Quality Assurance Engineer and QA Manager, Director of QA, Executive Producers and Software Engineers to verify functional testing is complete prior to integration; ensure quality in updates and new releases.
Responsibilities will include:
· Create and review integration test cases and test plans based on existing functional specifications and requirements documents; quickly come up to speed on core application functionality and logic
· Execute test cases and test plans using manual or automated methods
· Manage QA testing resources as needed on a project-specific basis; assign test cases, defect verification, report status, determine confidence level in software quality
· Identify, isolate and document software defects, either independently or with QA/Development peers, especially those reported from field test and end users
· Maintain and expand existing testing documentation (test plans, test cases/scripts, defect reports, etc.) for products and solutions
· Review developer unit tests; incorporate and expand upon these in automation framework
· Assist in on-going process improvement efforts to ensure test planning, execution, and reporting methods are effective, efficient, standardized, coordinated, and integrated
· Responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of internal tools and applications and/or the design and execution of smoke tests
· Work with build engineer on creating automated build acceptance scripts and process
· Research new technologies to aid in automation of test cases
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
· Resourceful; able to switch among multiple projects quickly; able to remain calm in the face of uncertainty and change; highly responsible.
· Hands-on problem-solving skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills.
· Knowledge of a wide range of desktop applications, including Microsoft Word Excel, Project and Visio (or equivalents).
· Extensive knowledge of various operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X
· Comfort with databases (MySQL) including knowledge of SQL
· Familiarity with common network configurations
· Experience in software testing, including writing and using test cases, using bug tracking applications, and designating bug severity
Requirements & Qualifications Include:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
· Minimum 6 years experience in software industry.
· Experience with commercial or custom automation tools
· Experience with script-based testing tools (Hatatap, Perl, Python)
· Knowledge of the company and the educational software industry preferred.
